XX Week of the Italian Language in the World

19-25 October 2020

Italian Between Word and Image: Graffiti, Illustrations, Comic Books is the theme for the XX Week of the Italian Language in the World. A theme that can be developed both in a socio-linguistic key and by emphasizing expressive forms such as comic books, graphic novels and children’s books.

All activities take place in APICS Centre.

You will have the opportunity to browse this publication in its original copy and recognize how much the Italian language was and has been an expression of Art and Culture representing a primary vehicle for its dissemination throughout the world.

Geronimo Stilton reading session & group activity

Tuesday 20 Oct @ 5pm to 6:30pm

Spend a fun afternoon while listening to the adventures of one of the most beloved kids book characters, the journalist Geronimo Stilton! The famous book series Geronimo Stilton was born from the pen of an Italian writer. You will listen, look, smell and be immersed in an all-Italian storytelling fun. You will also get creative and illustrate yourself some pages of his books.

Topolino reading session & group activity

Wednesday 21 Oct @ 5pm to 6:30pm

Join in the Topolino fun! Delve into the comic books of Mickey Mouse, our beloved Topolino! You will have the opportunity to browse through a small collection of Italian Topolino comic books, listen to some of the best stories and have a look at some old Topolino comic book versions yourself. You will listen to some stories told by some special guests and you will then get creative and get to draw some of Topolino’s most beloved characters yourself.

Create your own illustrated book through the teachings of the great Italian storyteller Gianni Rodari: "A sbagliare le storie: To get the tales wrong"

19 + 20 + 21 + 23 October @ 2:15 pm to 6 pm (4 days camp)

Enter the magical world that's always been besides our children: illustration! Why not create your own illustrated fairy tales book? Kids will be guided step-by-step in creating their very first illustrated book, from the story to the drawings.
